Bac Giang to focus on improving provincial green index in 2023-2025 period

(BGO)- The provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province has released the Plan on improving the Provincial Green Index (PGI) in the period from 2023 to 2025.

The plan targets to maintain and heighten the PGI of Bac Giang province in 2023-2025 period to be in top 10 PGI performers nationwide.

The province strives to build centralized waste water treatment station which meet environmental standard at 100 percent of industrial parks.

Particularly, the province will strive to improve scores of the sub-index minimizing environmental pollution and the risk of climate hazards to firms, striving to jump from the 32nd position (3.45 points) to the 15th position (3.95 points or higher).

Besides, the province targets to maintain 6.01 points or higher of the maintaining minimum environmental standards sub-index, at which Bac Giang province ranks 4th now. It will strives to improve the scores at the environmental leadership by provincial governments sub-index from 4.47 points (16th ranking) to 4.68 points or higher (10th ranking) while preserving 2.29 points or higher at the environmental incentives and support services by provincial governments sub-index (at which Bac Giang province was ranked 2nd).

In order to reach the set targets, the Plan clarified a number of measures to improve the PGI sub-indices. Accordingly, it will strive to enhance the 1st sub-index minimizing environmental pollution and the risk of climate hazards, the 2nd sub-index maintaining minimum environmental standards, the 3rd sub-index environmental leadership by provincial governments and the 4th sub-index environmental incentives and support services by provincial governments.

To that end, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee urged the related departments and agencies to work out specific solutions. Particularly, the provincial Industrial Zones Authority needs to provide information to enterprises in the industrial parks, take initiative in grasping situation and proposing solutions to surmount difficulties and obstacles facing enterprises in environmental protection.

In addition, it is necessary to accelerate the implementation progress of the industrial parks approved investment policies and strengthen inspection and supervision upon construction of environmental protection facilities in the production, business and service areas to make sure that all of the on-going industrial parks in the province are equipped with sufficient environmental protection facilities. Besides, it is required to inspect the enterprises in the industrial parks regarding environmental protection in accordance with regulations.
