Bac Giang trade unions work to ensure happy Tet for workers
Bac Giang – At this time, businesses and trade unions at all levels in Bac Giang province are implementing plans to care for members and workers during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.
Offering cash bonuses, organizing cultural and art programmes, holding prize draws, and giving gifts or bus tickets to workers living far from home or in difficult circumstances are meaningful activities during the year-end occasion. These not only provide workers with a warm Tet but also raise their mood, helping them feel more connected to their workplace.
Officials from the Hiep Hoa district Labour Federation and the trade union of KD Sports Vietnam Company Limited gather workers’ feedback to propose the company’s leadership take care of them during Tet. |
While giving Tet bonuses and organizing holiday activities are not mandatory, over the years, businesses in the province have always paid attention to planning these activities.
The gifts may be small or large, in cash or in kind, but employers view this as a way to express gratitude to their workers—those who have been loyal and directly contributed to the company's profits.
As the Lunar New Year approaches, the working atmosphere at KD Sports Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Thang town, Hiep Hoa district becomes increasingly urgent.
Hoang Thi Thanh (born in 1981), a worker, shared, “We work hard throughout the year, and at the end of the year, everyone hopes to receive a gift as recognition. Being cared for during this time motivates us to stay more committed to the company.”
Although Tet is still two months away, the company's leadership and the trade union’s executive committee have already made plans for salary payments, bonuses, and gifts for the workers.
Pham Xuan My, president of the trade union and production manager of the company, revealed for the New Year, the company would provide workers with a 100,000 VND (4 USD) per person support.
For the Lunar New Year, each worker will receive a 13th-month salary bonus, which is 6% of their total annual income (equivalent to 5-7 million VND), along with a gift from the trade union worth 400,000 VND.
Like previous years, the company’s trade union continues to advise the leadership on selecting exemplary members and workers in difficult circumstances for commendation and gift-giving.
GU Vina Co., Ltd. in the Dinh Tram Industrial Park currently provides stable employment for over 400 workers with an average monthly income of 8-9 million VND per person.
Considering workers a "precious asset," at the end of every year, in addition to the cash support for Tet, the company’s leadership also allocates funds for a year-end party with all workers.
Art performances during the party foster a warm atmosphere for the new year and further strengthen the bond between workers, the trade union, and the company.
Currently, the province has over 700 grassroots-level trade unions in businesses, with around 260,000 members.
To further enhance the role of protecting workers' rights and interests and reduce labour disputes, especially during the year-end period, the provincial Labour Federation has issued a plan on Tet support for members starting from late October each year.
It has directed trade unions to actively communicate with and encourage business leaders to devise plans and publicly disclose the workers' salaries and bonuses for the holiday.
In particular, they have been instructed to review and select workers in difficult situations to provide appropriate support, ensuring that all workers can have a fulfilling Tet holiday.
