Athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh excellently sets national marathon record
BAC GIANG – Bac Giang star runner Nguyen Thi Oanh set a new national record at the Viettel Marathon Series 2024's Vietnam leg on December 1 in Hanoi.
She excellently became the first Vietnamese female athlete to complete the 42.195 km distance in less than 2 hours and 40 minutes. Specifically, Nguyen Thi Oanh reached the finish line after 2 hours, 39 minutes and 49 seconds.

Initially, Nguyen Thi Oanh planned to compete in the half marathon to save her energy after the National Athletics Championship in November but she decided to switch to the full marathon in the last minute.
On the fierce race track, Nguyen Thi Oanh overcame many strong opponents such as Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa, Pham Hong Le and Lao athlete Lodkeo Inthakoumman.
This achievement not only broke the national record Oanh set at the Techcombank Marathon Hanoi 2023 (2 hours 44 minutes 20 seconds) but was also recognized by the Asian Athletics Association (AAA) due to the international standard running track.
BAC GIANG - On the morning of September 22, the star runner of Bac Giang province Nguyen Thi Oanh excellently won the championship title in women's full marathon of 42 km at the Techcombank HaNoi International Marathon 2024 in Hanoi.
BAC GIANG - 96 individuals and 38 groups have recently been honored as "Simple but noble examples in 2024" in the exhibition of the same name at the Ho Chi Minh Museum (Hanoi), two of whom came from Bac Giang province, including athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh and Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Hoang, officer Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Division of the Provincial Public Security.
The border gate pair of Hoanh Mo (Vietnam) – Dongzhong (China), including the customs gate of Bac Phong Sinh- Lihuo, was officially launched on June 25.
Stopping in the middle of Ngang Pass on the border of Ha Tinh Province and Quang Binh Province, visitors can not only immerse themselves in nature and admire the vast sky and earth, but also have the opportunity to approach an ancient and valuable historical architectural work called Hoanh Son Gate (also known as a Heaven’s Gate).
Authorities of Binh Lieu and Hai Ha districts in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh (Vietnam) and Fang Cheng Zone in China’s Guangxi province have agreed to hold a ceremony to mark the official opening of Hoanh Mo - Dong Zhong Border Gate pair this month.
BAC GIANG - On the morning of March 31, the 65th National Marathon Championship – Tien Phong Newspaper 2024 took place in Phu Yen with 12,000 participating athletes.
