Bac Giang wakes up people’s strength to build cultural and sport systems

“In late 2018, when the village built cultural house and football pitch, many households donated hundreds of square meters of land, typically sick soldier Nguyen Van Hung giving 700 square meters, Nguyen Van Van, Nguyen Van Sang and Hoang Thi Chon donating from 50 – 100 square meters. After only 3 months, the project worth over 1 billion VND (43,100 USD) was completed with great contribution from the local residents,” said Hoang Khac Can, Vice Head of Chi Le village, My Thai commune (Lang Giang district).

Implementing the Project “Developing the cultural and sport systems in Bac Giang province in the period 2015 – 2020 with the vision to 2030” and movement “New style rural building”, the local authority at all level has paid due attention to instructing the mobilization of various sources to invest in building the cultural and sport systems at the villages, hamlets and residential groups with warm response from the locals.
So far, the province has built 2,298 cultural houses in the villages, hamlets and residential groups, 60 percent of which are qualified with the standard of the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism.
The province strives to build cultural houses with minimum area of 200 square meters and sport area of 300 square meters at 60 – 70 percent of the villages, hamlets and residential groups while constructing new cultural houses to the village and residential groups yet to have this project. |
From 2014 – 2019, Bac Giang upgraded, built and repaired 711 cultural houses in the villages, hamlets and residential groups with total cost of nearly 420 billion VND (18.1 million USD). The stadium, entertainment facilities, campus and relic site were constructed and restored to enhance the cultural and spiritual life as well as encourage the local physical practice.
According to the Vice Director of the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism Duong Hong Co, the local residents in many localities are willing to donate cash, man date and land to build the cultural house, football pitch, entertainment area as well as buy the equipment and tool for sport and art activities in spite of several economic difficulties.
At the special difficult communes like Xuan Luong, Canh Nau, Dong Vuong, Tien Thanh, Dong Huu (Yen The district), many officers and party members always take the lead in the movement.
Various method of appeal
107 cultural houses have been built, upgraded and repaired in the villages and residential groups in Luc Nam district for recent 3 years with total cost of nearly 38 billion VND (1.6 million USD) which was mostly contributed by the local residents.
Besides, the communes and towns called for the people to donate the land, change the land and socialize to build 10 football pitches, 37 volleyball and 12 badminton courts.

According to Nguyen Dinh Cong Permanent Vice Secretary of the Party Committee in Kham Lang commune, the locality has called for not only the officers, party members, head of the agencies but also kind-hearted and successful people to donate to the movement.
Several communes asked for the participation from the households with economical capability.
In Bac Giang city, apart from the State’s support expense, the wards and communes annually call for the enterprises and kind-hearted people to join hands to build and upgrade the utilities for the cultural houses and its campus. From 2016 – 2019, the city built and revamped 30 campus sites, entertainment facilities with total investment of 50 billion VND ( 2.1 million USD).
In November 2019, the provincial People’s Committee issued the Plan to develop the key cultural and sport systems in Bac Giang province in the period 2020 – 2025 with the vision to 2030.
Accordingly, the key cultural and sport systems in the province will be constructed and developed synchronously to meet the standard so that the province ranks in the top group of the Northern midland and mountainous provinces by 2025.
