Crossing nearly 1,000 km by road through Cau Treo border gate in the central province of Ha Tinh, 20 officials and outstanding farmers of Xaysomboun province were warmly welcomed by Bac Giang province.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry Keoanong Siasot, head of the delegation, shared that they looked forward to visiting agricultural and forestry development models; learning how to apply science and technology; acquiring experience in developing crop and livestock production in Bac Giang province, thus applying them to production in their locality.
Visiting the vast custard apple growing area in Luc Nam district, Xaysomboun farmers were surprised when they heard district leaders introduce that this place used to be a dry, hilly land overgrown with weeds. Thanks to the fruit tree planting orientation of the province and district as well as the continuous efforts and creativity of farmers, a famous custard apple growing area with high productivity and quality has been formed, helping farmers quickly reduce poverty and get rich effectively.
While in Bac Giang, the Xaysomboun farmers visited the agricultural eco-tourism model in Quy Son commune, Luc Ngan district; some lychee orchards in Luc Ngan district; and striped civet, bamboo rat and goat farming models in Luc Nam district.
Wherever they were, the delegation was warmly welcomed like family members. They discussed directly with farm owners and typical farmer households; boldly raised questions about technical processes, cage making, and specialty animal husbandry; use of ingredients and food, care techniques, disease prevention and treatment; and product consumption solutions for the highest economic efficiency.
Nguyen The Thi, Vice Chairman of the provincial Farmers' Association, said that agriculture and rural development managers, farmers' association representatives and farm owners answered the Xaysomboun farmers’ questions about the province's agricultural production promotion policies and the current advantages and disadvantages of the farmers' association.
Good production and business households also shared experience in applying science and technology in pineapple and ginseng growing and caring; techniques in animal husbandry and disease prevention for chickens, pigs, and goats.

It has implemented the "One Commune One Product" programme to tap the strengths and advantages of local specialty products, while promoting mechanisation and application of scientific and technical advances in production. Bac Giang also has policies to attract investors, forming a linkage chain from production to product consumption.
The guests also had a chance to enjoy some of the province's products such as: lychee, custard apple, pineapple, melon, grape and tea.
