Bac Giang’s economy "takes off"

Updated: 08:55, 26/10/2023
BAC  GIANG - The internal and external transport system are gradually improved synchronously, opening the way to connect other fields, creating motivation for socio-economic development. Thanks to that, the northern province of Bac Giang has gained positive achievements, affirming its important position on the industrial map of the region and the whole country.

The assessment indicators of the province's business investment environment from the beginning of the term have improved. For over 2 years, the province has attracted nearly 5 billion USD of investment capital, remaining in the group of 10 provinces and cities with the best investment attraction results nationwide.

The latest report of the provincial People's Committee stated that in the first 10 months of 2023, investment attraction reached 2.2 billion USD, twice as much as the same period.

Bac Giang is currently the "nest" of many "eagles" including transnational corporations in charge of manufacturing electronic components, semiconductors, and solar batteries from Taiwan, Singapore, China, Republic of Korea and Japan such as: Foxconn, Luxshare, JA Solar, Hana Micron... Among them, Foxconn and Luxshare are currently creating jobs for tens of thousands of workers, the largest in the province.

Thanks to convenient traffic connections, there are also a series of satellite enterprises in Bac Giang province producing components and spare parts for "parent" companies in neighboring provinces such as Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh and Vinh Phuc…

Recently, Hana Micron Vina Company Limited (Korean enterprise) has expanded the second phase of its factory with a capital of nearly 600 million USD. It becomes one of the projects with the largest investment capital per hectare (about 90 million USD per hectare), 8 times higher than the average investment capital of foreign-invested projects in the local industrial parks.

This is the first semiconductor manufacturing project in the North, creating an opportunity for the province to attract more high-tech projects in accordance with the Government's policies and investment attraction strategies.

According to the Provincial Industrial Park Management Board, there are currently more than 400 enterprises operating in industrial parks, creating jobs for more than 200,000 workers, higher than before the Covid-19 epidemic.

In recent years, the industry has continuously maintained growth momentum of more than 20 percent. The export turnover has secured position in the group of 8 provinces and cities reaching more than 10 billion USD... making Bac Giang a growth pole in the Northeast region of the country.

In implementing regional connectivity, Bac Giang province promotes the spirit of initiative, creativity, daring to think, daring to do and sharing to overcome difficulties, hence helping create momentum for the economy to "take off". The province's economic scale currently ranks 13th in the country, exceeding the target set by the 19th Provincial Party Congress (term 2020 - 2025).

Highly appreciating Bac Giang's prospects for attracting investment and developing industry, Nguyen Hai Minh, Vice President of the European Business Association in Vietnam, said that currently European businesses are shifting the investment to the North and one of the attractive destination is Bac Giang.

Because it takes about one hour from Bac Giang to Hanoi capital, Noi Bai International Airport by car, and takes about two hours to the Vietnam - China border gate. The province has a synchronous transportation system connecting roads, railways, waterways and airlines, which is very convenient for economic and trade exchanges with the region and internationally.

In fact, the clean land in 8 industrial parks in Bac Giang covering thousands of hectares have been rented out by investors. To welcome the new investment wave, the province has focused on promoting site clearance of industrial parks and clusters, preparing clean land fund, creating favorable conditions for investors with the proactive motto of "nesting for eagles", the investor's success is the province's prosperity.
