Bac Giang province on June 24, 2022 held the groundbreaking ceremony for Dong Viet bridge construction project and its paths in Yen Dung district that helps connect two provinces of Bac Giang and Hai Duong.

The project has a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND (63.3 million USD) from the Bac Giang province budget and local government bonds. The project is invested by the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects of Transport and Agricultural Works in Bac Giang province.

Currently, the contractor is implementing 4 construction phases, the project progress has reached 70% of the work volume.

Dong Viet Bridge has been constructed by the joint venture of Thuan An Trading and Construction Development Joint Stock Company - Trung Chinh Construction and Trading Company Limited - 168 Vietnam Construction Investment and Import-Export Joint Stock Company. As schedule, it will have its closure segment placed and be put into use in 2024. On the Hai Duong side, the investment project to build the Dong Viet bridge path connecting with National Highway 37 has a total cost of more than 469.8 billion VND.

Dong Viet Bridge is the first and largest cable-stayed bridge in Bac Giang province. The starting point of the bridge (Km0+00) is located in Canh Thuy commune (Yen Dung). It passes through Duc Giang Urban Industrial and Service Park, Dong Phuc Urban Industrial and Service Park, crosses over Thuong River (2.4 km away from the downstream of Dong Viet ferry).

Its end point connects to the planned road in Hung Dao commune, Chi Linh city (coupling with the investment project to build the Dong Viet bridge path connecting with National Highway 37, Chi Linh city invested by the People's Committee of Hai Duong province ).

The paths to the bridge stretch about 7.86 km long. It is designed as level II plain road with 22 meter foundation and 21.5 meter road surface.

The bridge is expected to promote goods circulation, develop tourism and create conditions to attract investors to industrial parks and clusters of Bac Giang province. Also, it expands the connection among Bac Giang, Hai Duong and other provinces and cities in the region.

The contractor has accelerated the progress so as to complete the project 3 months ahead of set schedule.
