Continue nurturing traditional friendship of Vietnam - Laos
The event was attended by Tran Cong Thang, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial Fatherland Front, representatives of the Lao Embassy to Vietnam, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Central Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association and the provincial Union of Friendship Organizations.

At the meeting, the delegates recalled 70 years of the traditional day of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers helping the Lao revolution. On 30 October 1949, President Ho Chi Minh signed the ordinance to establish the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers helping the Lao revolution.
Over the two resistance wars against French colonist and American imperialist, Vietnamese volunteer soldiers accompanied the Lao military and people to overcome numerous difficulties, bravely fight and gain significant results in the fields of polity, military and diplomacy.

Particularly, Vietnam and Laos launched the Southern Laos campaign in December 1953 to liberate Boloven highland and separate the French force contributing to the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
However, American imperialist expanded the war to the Indochina after a very short time of peace.
Under leadership of the two Parties, the two countries run many big fighting campaigns such as Nam Bac campaign in 1968, liberating Nam Bac - Kham Dang, joining the liberation area to Northern Laos and Xiang Khouang Plain of Jars campaign.

The Lao People's Democratic Republic was founded on 1 December 1975 thanks to support of Vietnamese revolution.
Currently, the Liaison Committee for Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in Bac Giang province has about 3,000 members. In order to promote the tradition of Uncle Ho’s military, the former soldiers proactively take part in local social work and economic development, help each other to overcome poverty, seek and gather martyrs’ remains and implement the military’s home front policy. Especially, the committee regularly propagandizes and educates the youths and students about the tradition and friendly relations between Vietnam and Laos.

On this occasion, the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Bac Giang province awarded certificate of merit to 20 outstanding individuals. The provincial Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association and Liaison Committee for Vietnamese volunteer soldiers on missions in Laos presented a number of gifts to the war invalids, relatives of the martyrs who were volunteer soldiers on missions in Laos and Laos students and researchers studying in Vietnam.
