The testing aims to detect infected people in the community and help foreigners in the city to rest assured.
An estimated 2,000 foreigners currently living in seven wards of Son Tra District will be tested for the coronavirus, technically known as SARS-CoV-2, from August 21 to 25.

Health workers of Son Tra District collected samples from 360 foreigners in An Hai Dong and Man Thai on August 21 and another 350 in Nai Hien Dong and Phuoc My on August 22.
Ms Tanya Greyling, a South African English teacher, said she was appreciative of the testing and felt safe living and working in Da Nang, adding that the city is doing its best to protect its citizens and visitors.
Health workers said they were faced with language barriers when collecting samples from foreigners who come from many different countries but received assistance from interpreters arranged by Son Tra District.
Meanwhile the situation appears to have been brought under control in the northern province of Hai Duong where no cases of Covid-19 have been detected for the past four days.
But, during his visiting the province on August 22, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen cautioned Hai Duong not to be complacent, noting that the risk of community transmission remains high.
He urged the province to take measures to detect new cases early and suppress the outbreak effectively while asking agencies of the Ministry of Health to work closely with the provincial health department in containing the virus.
Since July 25, Hai Duong Province has reported 14 cases of Covid-19, with 13 linked to a restaurant in the province’s eponymous capital city.
