Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long announced the measures at the working session with the Hanoi Steering Committee for the Prevention and Control of Covid-19 pandemic on the morning of August 8.
Long noted that testing is an important factor for Hanoi to control the pandemic and only tests can help the early detection of Covid-19 cases in order to localize and quell any outbreaks.
The Health Ministry has identified Hanoi as a high-risk area because nearly 100,000 people returned Hanoi from Da Nang, including more than 75,000 people who returned to Hanoi from July 15, he stated.
Da Nang is considered an epicentre, thus all people coming back from Da Nang are at risk of infection, the Health official said, emphasising the significance of the rapid RT-PCR testing.
* Due to the pandemic, more than 340 Vietnamese citizens were flown home safely from Australia on August 7 on a flight conducted by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines.
The flight was arranged by Vietnamese authorities, representative agencies in Australia and the carrier, together with the relevant competent Australian agencies.
