Diversifying consumption channels for Tan Yen early ripening lychee
BAC GIANG - On May 27, the People's Committee in Tan Yen district (Bac Giang province) organized a conference to connect and promote consumption of early ripening lychees in 2024 at the cultural house of Ca Am village.
In 2024, Tan Yen district grows more than 1,400 hectares of lychee (an increase of nearly 100 hectares compared to the previous year), with an estimated output of 15,500 tonnes, including 1,250 hectares of early ripening lychee and expected productivity of 15,000 tonnes.

The district continues developing 900 hectares of lychee in line with VietGAP standards to ensure food quality and safety; maintaining and expanding 455 hectares of lychee production areas meeting VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards.

Harvest time starts from May 22 and lasts till June 20, 2024. In 2024, the district plans to consume about 7,800 tonnes of lychee (accounting for 50.3% of total output) in the domestic market, mostly in wholesale markets, supermarkets, and shopping centers in major provinces and cities.

The expected export output is more than 7,000 tonnes (accounting for 49.7% of total output) mainly to markets: China, Japan, US, EU, Thailand, Cambodia and Republic of Korea among others.
At the event, delegates exchanged experiences and solutions to expand potential consumption markets, promote and introduce Tan Yen early lychees and key and typical products of the district to more consumers.

At the same time, the district was encouraged to actively accelerate coordination between travel agencies and households in fruit tree areas, especially the lychee growing area in Phuc Hoa commune to participate in the local tourism development chain by developing tours, launching stimulus programs with incentives and gifts to introduce and promote Tan Yen lychee products, help visitors have meaningful experiences...

Local authority was urged to timely handle difficulties and obstacles in lychee purchasing, consuming and exporting.
