Ensuring transparent awarding process

In order to diversify forms of commendation, on November 8, 2021, the provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 61/2021/QD-UBND stipulating the awarding of the "Excellent Bac Giang Citizen" title. On that basis, the provincial Department of Home Affairs advised the provincial People's Committee to issue documents guiding the awarding process. Departments and agencies have also promoted dissemination of the event.

From the beginning of June to the end of July 25, the provincial Council for Emulation and Commendation received 21 nominations for the title in many fields such as economic and socio-cultural development; security and national defence; Party and political system building. The nominations are classified by field for the council to appraise and then select the most typical persons with the most contributions for the title. After the review, 10 out of 21 individuals met the criteria.

Vu Manh Hung, Director of the Department of Home Affairs and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial Council for Emulation and Commendation, assessed that “The 10 nominated individuals have met the conditions and criteria as prescribed. In addition to making important contributions to the development of the province, the honored have prestige and positive influence in society and the community”.

In order to ensure a fair, objective and transparent judging process to select persons deserving this noble title, from August 4 to the end of September 10, the council collected public opinions through information channels such as the provincial portal, the website of the Department of Home Affairs, Bac Giang Newspaper (e-newspaper, Fanpage and print newspaper), and the provincial Radio and Television Station.

Up to now, the judging process has been basically completed. The provincial People's Committee plans to hold a ceremony to honor the winners of the "Excellent Bac Giang Citizen" title on October 7.

Spreading noble deeds for community

The "Excellent Bac Giang Citizen" title aims to recognize the contributions of individuals to the general development of the province. Among the 10 nominated individuals, there is a very young citizen namely Hoang Thanh Huyen, a 12th grader specializing in Chinese from the Bac Giang High School for the Gifted in the 2021-2022 school year. 

As the class monitor, Huyen has made many high achievements in exams to select excellent students at all levels. In the 2021-2022 school year, she was the only contestant to win the first prize in the national exam for excellent Chinese language students.

Nguyen Thi Oanh, a track and field coach and athlete from the provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, is also a shining example in making contributions to the development of provincial and national sports...

According to Hung, besides the achieved results, the organization of awarding the title is still facing many difficulties because some agencies and units remain embarrassed in selecting, nominating and introducing excellent individuals.

To make the activity more effective in the following years, he said that the Party committees and authorities at all levels, sectors, mass organizations and media agencies should step up dissemination of the meaning and the province’s regulations on the awarding of the title, creating a strong influence among the people.
