China remained Vietnam’s top market with a value of more than over 1 billion USD, though the country is bringing in stricter regulations on product origin tracing, issuance of import licenses and quality inspections.

These new regulations could affect Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports.

Fruit-vegetable exports to some countries such as the US, the Republic of Korea, Japan and the Netherlands recorded high growth, but the proportion of exports to these markets remains low.

The fruit and vegetable sector aims to gross nearly 4.2 billion USD in export turnover in 2019.

Last year, Vietnam exported 3.8 billion USD worth of fruits and vegetables, 8.9 percent more than the previous year.

Fruit, vegetable exports valued at 3.3 billion USD

Vietnam earned some 3.3 billion USD from vegetable and fruit exports during January-October, up 15.5 percent from the same time last year, the Agro Processing Market Development Authority (AgroTrade) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has said.

 

Fruit and vegetable exports expected to hit US$4 billion

Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports are on course to exceed US$4 billion in 2018, with a strong annual growth rate of more than 14%.

 

Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports up 14.1% in eight months

Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable export revenues were estimated at US$346 million in August 2018, bringing the total value in the first eight months of the year to US$2.7 billion, up 14.1% compared to the same period of 2017.

 

Fruit, vegetable exports target 10 billion USD

With impressive growth rates over the past three years, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports are expected to hit 10 billion USD in 2020.
