Government agrees to purchase additional 20 million doses of Pfizer vaccine

The Government has just issued Resolution No.90/NQ-CP on purchasing an additional almost 20 million doses of BNT162 vaccine from Pfizer.

Specifically, the Government agreed with the Prime Minister's permission to apply the form of contractor selection in the special cases specified in Article 26 of the Bidding Law for the additional purchase of 19,998,810 doses of Pfizer's BNT162 vaccines with conditions in accordance with Resolution No.09/NQ-CP dated May 18, 2021 of the Government.

The Ministry of Health was asked to be responsible for the urgent organisation of the purchase in order to deploy vaccination rollout as soon as possible, meeting the requirements of epidemic prevention and control work and ensuring quality, effectiveness, and to also fight against all negativity in the process of purchasing and using vaccines.

Vietnam has been accelerating its Covid-19 vaccine vaccination efforts. The country hope to secure around 150 million doses this year in order to inoculate at least 70-80% of its population, achieving herd immunity.
