Vietnam is expected to receive an additional shipment of nearly 218,000 doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine this week, according to the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Vietnam is expected to receive 47-50 million doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine in the coming months.

In particular, there will be about 47-50 million doses of Pfizer vaccine delivered to the country. Earlier, on June 12, the MOH granted conditional approval of Pfizer vaccine for emergency use in the fight against Covid-19.

As released by the ministry, more than 18 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have arrived in Vietnam through different sources so far. In the past two weeks, the domestic inoculation progress has been accelerated, with an average of approximately 400,000 shots per day. Notably, August 10 saw a new daily immunisation record with over 1.4 million doses having been administered.

To date, the total doses given in Vietnam has reached 11,341,864, including 10,305,762 first shots and 1,036,102 second shots.

The MOH said that it has issued a document on the projected vaccine allocation from now until the end of 2021 so that localities can grasp the quantity and design injection plans, aiming to ensure progress. Accordingly, the ministry highlighted the need to ensure vaccine sources to inoculate those who have got their first shot and are due for the second.
