Fireworks go off at Hanoi's Thong Nhat Park during the 2021 Lunar New Year Festival, or Tet.

It would be the second year in a row Hanoi sets off fireworks at a single location to celebrate the Lunar New Year festival due to Covid-19 concerns. Previously, the capital would be inundated with firework displays.

Hanoi neither lit any fireworks nor organized entertainment activities or public countdowns to celebrate New Year on Jan. 1 amid a Covid-19 surge.

This year's Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet, would last from Jan. 29 to Feb. 6.

The capital has recorded around 1,800-2,000 new Covid-19 cases daily over the past week.
