Dao Ngoc Ngu Xa night food street and the pedestrian area was officially opened on two streets of Ngu Xa and Nguyen Khac Hieu in Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, contributing more entertainment and shopping space for capital citizens and visitors.

The night food and pedestrian street will focus on developing the existing famous business activities, as well as displaying the One Commune Once Product programme’s products.

The Dao Ngoc Ngu Xa night food street area attracts a large number of visitors on the opening day.

In addition, the traditional bronze casting craft of Ngu Xa village in the past will be introduced at the Bronze Casting Handicraft Museum.

Visitors will have the chance to enjoy various cultural and art activities during weekends.

During the spring festivals, the traditional rituals and activities will be held at the cultural and historical relic sites, such as Than Quang Pagoda and Ngu Xa Communal House to serve visitors.

The food street is open every day, but especially on weekends (from 6 pm on Friday to midnight on Sunday), vehicles will be banned on Ngu Xa and Nguyen Khac Hieu streets.

The night food street area is expected to contribute to promoting the image of Hanoi as a “safe-friendly-quality-attractive’ destination.

Ba Dinh District will continue to adjust and perfect the plans, rules and regulations, to make the Dao Ngoc Ngu Xa night food street become an attractive destination for the capital citizens and visitors.

Dao Ngoc Ngu Xa (an ancient folk name) covers an area of about 4.5 hectares located on the surface of Truc Bach lake.

In the past, Ngu Xa village was located to the west of Thang Long citadel and was famous for the traditional bronze casting handicraft. Due to the urbanisation development and many historical ups and downs, the craft has not been popular.

Later, Ngu Xa became famous for the many unique street foods of Hanoi.
