Hue to boost night-time tourism from second quarter

Updated: 19:28, 28/02/2022
Authorities in Thua Thien-Hue Province, home to Hue Town, will organize a series of cultural activities and art performances at night from the second quarter to diversify nightlife travel experiences.

There would be art programs and food fests from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. across the backpacker precinct of Pham Ngu Lao, Chu Van An and Vo Thi Sau Street, February 3 Park and Nguyen Dinh Chieu pedestrian zone.

In addition, calligraphy performances, folk games, traditional ao dai shows and street music programs would be held at night in Dong Ba Market, the pedestrian zone near the iconic Huong (Perfume) River, Phu Xuan Park and the night street zone around the Imperial Citadel.

Hue was the seat of the Nguyen dynasty from 1802 until the end of feudalism in Vietnam in 1945, and the UNESCO-recognized Imperial Citadel is now a popular attraction.

The town is generally considered sleepy with little nightlife to speak of and just a few bars and cafes.

Provincial authorities earlier planned to launch a night street zone around the Imperial Citadel on Jan. 1 but the plan was postponed due to the resurgence of Covid.

Thua Thien-Hue also got the government greenlight to welcome back foreign tourists under special tour packages this month before Vietnam fully reopens inbound tourism from March 15.
