Meaningful activities to pay tribute to national contributors

(BGO)- On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, Lam Thi Huong Thanh, member of the Standing Committee of the provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tan Yen district visited and presented gifts to the social policy beneficiaries in the commune of Ngoc Chau, Tan Yen district.

Lam Thi Huong Thanh, Secretary of Tan Yen district’s Party Committee gives gift to wounded soldier Hoang Trong Thu at Bang Cuc hamlet, Ngoc Chau commune.

She was accompanied by leaders of the Office of the district’s Party Committee, Division of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and Party Committee of Ngoc Chau commune.

The delegation visited and presented gifts to the families of wounded soldiers Nguyen Van Le (born in 1960) at Khanh Giang hamlet and Hoang Trong Thu (born in 1950) at Bang Cuc hamlet (each worths1 million VND (43 USD)). Currently, Nguyen Van Le is undergoing dialysis treatment while Hoang Trong Thu is suffering from a cerebrovascular accident.

The Secretary of the district’s Party Committee asked after the health of the wounded soldiers and encouraged their families to continuously uphold the national revolutionary tradition in building their localities and educating their descendants. In addition, she requested the local authorities to pay regular attention to the policy beneficiaries cherishing the tradition “gratitude is the sign of noble souls” of Vietnamese people.

Ahead of the 71st anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, the provincial People’s Committee has funded 400 million VND (17,300 USD) to My Thai commune, Lang Giang district to refurbish and upgrade the martyrs’ cemeteries. In line with the provincial fund, the communal people’s committee granted 60 million VND (2,600 USD) to refurbish its cemetery.

The cemetery of My Thai commune is home to 140 local martyrs who devoted their lives in the two wars of resistance against French colonists and American invaders. The items need refurbishing include tiling the ground and gate, painting the tombs and concreting a 200-meter pathway into the cemetery.
