Updated: 21:36, 29/03/2024

Midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai, celebrated as the “Messi of Vietnam” by the French media, and his relatives were overflowing with happiness at his Thursday nuptials to Chu Thanh Huyen.

The bride arrived at Hai’s residence in the Dong Anh district of Hanoi at around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Hai (in white suit) and Huyen took a photo with Hai’s father (second from R), mother (second from L), elder brother (far R), sister-in-law (far L), niece and nephew.

Hai utilized a Rolls Royce Phantom Series 2, valued at VND16 billion (US$645,248), to escort Huyen from her dwelling in the capital’s Son Tay district.

Hai and Huyen have also planned a follow-up celebration on April 6 at JW Marriott, a five-star hotel in Hanoi’s Nam Tu Liem district, renowned for having hosted distinguished international personalities like former U.S. President Barack Obama, U.S. President Joe Biden, and Xi Jinping, the General Secretary and President of the Chinese Party, during their visits to Vietnam.
The event is expected to attract a host of luminaries from Vietnam’s sports and entertainment sectors.

Former coach of the Vietnam national football team Park Hang-seo (far R) was among the guests.

At 27, Hai is celebrated for his sporting accomplishments, which encompass winning a gold medal at the SEA Games 2019, securing victory in the 2018 AFF Cup, and playing a pivotal role in Vietnam’s commendable efforts in the 2021 World Cup qualifiers.
Together with his teammates, he has completed two matches against Indonesia in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, conducted on March 21 and 26.

Defender Doan Van Hau (far R), Hai's teammate on the national team, and his wife Doan Hai My (far L) were also present.

Huyen, 24, is recognized as a prominent digital influencer and entrepreneur, amassing more than 628,000 followers on TikTok.
Since initiating their relationship in 2021, the couple has chosen to keep their online presence understated, seldom sharing their private experiences on social media platforms.
In an earlier conversation with the press, Hai expressed his belief that marrying would usher in positive transformations in his football career.
