More aid coming to flood-hit residents

Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Tran Thanh Man paid a working visit to Binh Nam Commune, Thang Binh District, in the central province of Quang Nam, on November 21.

On the occasion, the VFF President presented VND12 billion (about US$518,800) donated by a number of organisations and individuals to flood victims in Quang Nam.

On the same day, the Quang Nam Business Association presented 520 gifts worth more than over VND500 million to people in Phuoc Thanh Commune, Phuoc Son District, Quang Nam Province.

VFF Presiden Tran Thanh Man presents gifts to flood-hit residents in Quang Nam province.

The gifts included blankets, instant noodles, sugar, fish sauce, cooking oil and cash for the people; medicine for the communal health centre; solar lights and VND100 million to support households whose houses were swept away by floods.

Also on November 21, the National Assembly delegation of Quang Ngai Province organised a programme to receive support and help local people overcome consequences caused by recent storms and floods.

Up to now, the delegation has received VND39.1 billion from organisations and donors to support flood-hit residents in Quang Ngai Province.

On November 21, the Vietnam National Union of Students Central Committee visited and present gifts to support people and students in the districts of Quang Ninh and Le Thuy, the central province of Quang Binh.

The delegation awarded 30 water purifiers worth over VND90 million to 30 households in Quang Ninh District. In Le Thuy District, the delegation presented VND30 million to support Hung Thuy Primary School in repairing its facilities.

On this occasion, the delegation also handed over 70 water purifiers and 1,500 set of learning tools to the Quang Binh Provincial Youth Union.
