They are part of the first phase of the North-South expressway project, which was planned for the 2017-2020 period and comprises a total of 11 component projects.

Two components of Cao Bo-Mai Son (15.2km) and Cam Lo-La Son (98.3km) have so far been completed and put into operation.

The two remaining projects of Cam Lam-Vinh Hao (78.5km) and Dien Chau-Bai Vot (49.3km) are expected to be completed in 2024.

The second phase of the North-South expressway project, initially set for construction in the 2021-2025 period, includes 12 component projects which cover a total length of 723.7km.

Work on the second phase officially started on January 1 this year and is expected to be finished in time to complete the mega expressway that connects all the way through the northern border province of Lang Son to the southernmost province of Ca Mau by 2025.

The Ministry of Transport said contractors were putting all their resources into construction to meet the deadline.

Regarding the construction of the coastal road which passes through 28 provinces and cities, the ministry said the work progress was uniform on the whole route.

The road runs from Mong Cai city in northern Quang Ninh to Ha Tien border gate in southern Kien Giang province with a total length of about 3,041km.

The ministry has completed the construction of 727km out of 776km it was assigned.

The remaining sections of the route with a total length of 2,217km are the responsibility of the localities that it passes through. However, due to limited resources, some have failed to meet the deadline.

The ministry said it would closely coordinate with localities to call for more investment to complete the project.
