The Ministry of Transport said contractors were putting all their resources into construction to meet the deadline.
Regarding the construction of the coastal road which passes through 28 provinces and cities, the ministry said the work progress was uniform on the whole route.
The road runs from Mong Cai city in northern Quang Ninh to Ha Tien border gate in southern Kien Giang province with a total length of about 3,041km.
The ministry has completed the construction of 727km out of 776km it was assigned.
The remaining sections of the route with a total length of 2,217km are the responsibility of the localities that it passes through. However, due to limited resources, some have failed to meet the deadline.
The ministry said it would closely coordinate with localities to call for more investment to complete the project.
