National Individual Badminton Championships in Bac Giang lures over 120 players

(BGO) - Yonex Sunrise Cup National Individual Badminton Championships 2023 officially kicked off on August 29 at Bac Giang provincial Gymnasium. The event was jointly held by Vietnam Sports Administration (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and Bac Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son attended the event and encouraged the players.

The tournament brings together more than 120 top quality athletes in the Vietnamese badminton from 15 provinces, cities and sectors to vie for medals at men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles

The Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son and the Organization Board present souvenir flags and flowers to the participating delegations.

13 members of Bac Giang team (5 men and 8 women) compete in all 5 events. There are many excellent players who competed and won high results in national tournaments, such as: Pham Van Hai, Than Van Anh, Tran Thi Phuong Thuy, Tran Quoc Khanh, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan. Bac Giang delegation targets to win 2-3 medals, including one gold.

17 matches took place on August 29 at men’s singles, women’s singles and doubles. The quarter and semi final matches will be held in September 1 while the final round will take place on September 2. The Organizer will award 5 sets of medals to outstanding athletes.

The tournament is an opportunity to discover, select and supplement new players for the national team to train and compete in regional and international sports tournaments in 2023 and the following years.
