Nearly 2,000 runners to take part in national marathon

Nearly 2,000 foreign and domestic runners will take part in the 61st National Marathon Tournament, organised by Tien Phong (Vanguard) Newspaper, on Ly Son Island, in the central province of Quang Ngai, from July 4-5.
Among them, 200 are competing in the professional category while the rest are participating in amateur disciplines.
Participants will compete in 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km races.

The event will see the participation of the country’s leading marathon runners, such as Pham Thi Hong Le and Nguyen Thi Oanh.
There will be eight categories for men and women. Amateur runners will compete at 10 km, 21 km and 42 km in three categories: runners aged from 16 to 34, from 35 to 44, and over 45 years old.
Quang Ngai provincial authorities will also offer support with the high-speed boat charges to Ly Son for all of the participants.
More than 3,000 athletes from 42 countries and territories competed in the 2020 Vietnam Trail Marathon in Moc Chau district of the northern mountainous province of Son La on January 11.
Hanoi's night run has attracted 2,000 enthusiasts since Super Early Bird registration started on December 16.
More than 3,000 athletes, including nearly 1,600 foreigners, participated in the Halong Bay Heritage Marathon 2019 held on November 24 in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province.
The annual Longbien Marathon 2019 (LBM 2019) will be held on October 27 with the participation of nearly 6,000 athletes.
A ceremony to start the VPBank Hanoi Marathon was held in the heart of Hanoi on October 20, with 7,000 professional and amateur athletes taking part, over 1,500 of them foreigners.
