New schoolyear opening ceremony set for September 5 nationwide
The ministry has sent an official dispatch to the heads of the Departments of Education and Training in provinces and cities across the country on the implementation of key activities in the beginning of the 2019-2020 schoolyear.
Schools across the country will simultaneously kick-start the new academic year 2019-2020 on September 5. |
Accordingly, the MOET are required to organise the opening ceremony of the 2019-2020 school year on the morning of September 5 across the country, featuring rituals such as saluting the flag, singing the national anthem, reading the encouragement letter sent to students by the State President and organising other cultural, art and sports activities.
For preschool educational institutions, they were suggested to organise the opening ceremony in the form of a school festival for children in a flexible and creative way, which is suitable to the physiological characteristics of children and with caring to their health and environmental protection.
The ministry also requested the educational facilities to organise welcoming activities to students who are at the beginning of their grade level, as well as providing students information on the schools’ traditions and operations, disseminating school regulations and introducing educational programmes and learning methods to students.

In addition, educational institutions were asked to maintain their teaching and learning routines right after the opening ceremony, along with promulgating the school education plans throughout the schoolyear that are suitable with the local conditions of the schools.
The organisation of activities at the beginning of the new schoolyear should match with the age of students and the schools’ conditions, creating trust and motivation for learning among the students.
The ministry also urged the educational institutions to implement solutions to ensure school security and safety for students, especially in student transport.
