(BGO) – The People’s Committee in Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province on March 21 opened Bo Da pagoda festival and celebrated 10 year anniversary of Quan ho folk song recognized by UNESCO as the World Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The event was attended by Le Doan Hop, former member of the Central Party Committee, former Minister of Information and Communication, Chairman of Vietnam Record Association; Le Anh Duong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Hoang Thai Tuan Anh, General Secretary of Indochina Book of Record, Chief Representative of Northern Record Office.

At the opening ceremony, leader of Viet Yen district highlighted the historical values of Bo Da pagoda as the special national relic with the pagoda festival honored as the national intangible cultural heritage and woodblocks as a national treasure among others. He also briefed on the preservation and promotion of Quan ho folk song in the district.
Viet Yen district has 18 ancient Quan ho villages which are officially recognized. Since UNESCO honored the Love duet folk song as the World Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2009, the district has preserved and developed the values as well as set up 42 clubs and 120 practising Quan ho villages.

The leaders present the Certificate of World Record for the contribution in preservation and promotion of Quan ho values to Viet Yen district and Bagico.

The socialization work in Quan ho preservation and development has received due attention from the local authority, enterprises and groups. Typically, Bagico Joint Stock Company (Bagico) directed by Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuc has sponsored and founded the summer camp “I love folk melodies” as well as taught Quan ho singing to thousands of teenagers and children.

At the event, Le Doan Hop and Hoang Thai Tuan Anh granted the Certificate of World Record for the contribution in preservation and promotion of Quan ho values to Viet Yen district and Bagico.
On this occasion, the district People’s Committee presented the Certificate of Merit to 37 individuals and groups with excellent achievement in 10 years of preserving and promoting the Quan ho values.

The festival will last till March 23 and feature several prominent activities of showcasing the specialities of craft villages, outstanding farm produce and food; performing calligraphy; art performance “Returning to the land of relics”; opening ceremony of 19th Quan ho singing festival in Viet Yen district…
Teaching Cheo and Quan ho folk singing
(BGO) – On March 19, the Center of Culture and Cinema in Bac Giang province joined hand with the Center of Culture, Information and Sports in Bac Giang city to organize a training course to teach Cheo and Quan ho folk singing in Phan Son hamlet, Dong Son commune.

Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee and Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Ninh province co-organised the “Ve mien Quan Ho” (Coming to the Quan ho region) programme to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Quan ho (love duet) singing being recognized as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage of humanity, in Bac Ninh city, on February 23.
Quan ho festival offers diverse activities
Various activities kicked off in the northern province of Bac Ninh on February 14 as part of an ongoing festival marking a decade since the Quan ho Bac Ninh folk songs were recognized by UNESCO as part of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
