Over 150 artisans and actors attend 1st Then singing and Tinh gourd lute Festival

BAC GIANG- The 1st Then singing and Tinh gourd lute Festival in 2023 was organized by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on November 22.

The festival is one of the activities within the project “preserving and promoting the beautiful cultural values of the ethnic minority groups associated with tourism development”.

The Organizing Board awards Team prizes to the participating delegations at the Festival.

The event gathered more than 150 Tay and Nung artisans, actors, actresses and instrumentalists who are living, studying and working in 5 districts of Son dong, Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Yen The and Lang Giang. Each delegation has maximum 30 members to perform singing, dancing and instrumental programme.

In the end, the Organizing Board awarded 2 excellent prizes, 7 A prizes, 8 B prizes and 8 C prizes and 3 A prizes and 2 B prizes for the entire delegations. The A prizes for the teams of Luc Ngan, Son Dong and Lang Giang districts. Besides, Hoang Thi Son (born in 1951) of Luc Nam delegation was honoured as the oldest actress, Chu Phuong Quynh (born in 2016) in Lang Giang district and Ly Thi Ngoc Nhung (born in 2016) in Luc Ngan district were awarded as the youngest participants.

The festival is a good opportunity for the artisans and artists to exchange and share experience in practicing and spreading the values of the arts of Then singing and Tinh gourd lute performance contributing to building and developing the progressive Vietnamese culture imbued with ethnic identities, strengthening the national solidarity block and building an advanced and healthy cultural environment.

A ceremony was held in the northern province of Tuyen Quang on September 3 night to receive a UNESCO certificate accrediting Practices of Then by Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic minority groups in Vietnam as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
