Pham Tien San wins gold medal at 2024 National Triathlon Championship
BAC GIANG- Pham Tien San (from Bac Giang) on July 15 won a gold medal in the men’s single duathlon event at the 2024 National Triathlon Championship.
The 2024 National Triathlon Championship was jointly held by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, the General Department of Sports and Vietnam Triathlon Federation at My Khe beach.

The tournament took place from 13 to 15 July attracting more than 100 athletes from 13 provinces and cities.
The athletes competed in the 3 categories: triathlon sprint consisting of 750m swimming, 20km cycling and 5km running, duathlon including 5km running, 20km cycling and 2.5km running and aquathlon consisting of 500m swimming and 2.5km running. This is the first time the tournament attended by amateur athletes in the single triathlon sprint and duathlon mixed relay events.

Bac Giang’s athlete Pham Tien San competed in the men’s single duathlon event. San said duathlon differs from athletic competitions. It requires both steady physical strength in running and flexible competition tactics in cycling.
With his steady performance, Pham Tien San continued affirming level of a SEA Games champion when he won a gold medal with 58 minutes and 20 seconds on the 27.5km racetrack. This achievement is higher than his own result at the 2024 national triathlon clubs championship in early May with 2 minutes faster.
