Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thuong shared: “The major target is defined to build the initial foundation to establish the tourism economy with three key types of culture – spirit, sport – entertainment, ecotourism and resort; create unique tourism products bearing the local traditional cultural identities while effectively developing and preserving the tourism natural resources. Yen Dung strives to be one of the tourism centers in Bac Giang by 2020”.
Recently, the district has boosted up the communication to promote the local tourism potentials, strength and highlights while highly focusing on drawing the investment in tourism development as the defined target.
Yen Dung district has welcomed nearly 1.4 million tourist arrivals in the period 2016 – 2020, including more than 50,000 foreigners. The tourism revenue hits 316 billion VND (13.5 million USD). |
Regarding the cultural and spiritual tourism, the space of Vinh Nghiem pagoda was expended up to 8.4 ha from 2ha which is under request to upgrade to some 40 ha with many new items.
Currently, several religious and spiritual tourism projects have been completed such as the main hall of Truc Lam Phuong Hoang Zen Monastery in Nham Bien town to meet the tourists’ demand for sightseeing and religious visits. The project was invested some 100 billion VND (4.3 million USD).
Besides, Thien Lai pagoda in Nham Bien town is being built with total cost of nearly 90 billion VND (3.8 million USD). Upon completion, it will create a chain of tourism sites around Nham Bien town with the center of Non Vua Mount, Thien Lai pagoda, Zen Monastery, Kem pagoda...
For recent 4 years, the district has mobilized nearly 49 billion VND (2.1 million USD) to restore and upgrade 35 recognized cultural and historical relic sites, helping create more destinations to attract visitors.
To sport and entertainment tourism, the golf course and service in Tien Phong commune, Yen Dung district was completed the first stage in 2017 and is now put in effective operation.
To ecotourism and resort, a project was launched and approved to build Khe Hang Dau ecotourism site in over 36 ha which is expected to have high quality resort, commercial service, entertainment areas, swimming pool, specific area for meditation and yoga practice....
Effective linkage and exploitation are needed
Comparing to other localities in the province, Yen Dung has more advantages to develop the tourism. Actually, the district has delivered strategic orientation to develop the potential.
Many visitors flock to Vinh Nghiem pagoda. |
However, it is necessary to have breakthrough steps to tap the local strong points in Phuong Hoang land.
Recently, Yen Dung district has executed many projects to develop the traffic infrastructure to enhance the area linkages and drive the development of industry – service – tourism.
Particularly, the road to Kem pagoda (Nham Bien town) and the road to link provincial road No.299 to No.293 (Tay Yen Tu road) were completed while many other routes are put in construction.
However, there are several shortcomings in local tourism sector such as few accommodation suppliers (34 facilities with 380 rooms), few services at the prominent tourism sites in the district such as Vinh Nghiem pagoda, Truc Lam Phuong Hoang Zen Monastery...
Yen Dung district is gradually developed the tourism potentials into economic advantage by investing great efforts and materials. Now, it is truly need for a bold and drastic development and preservation so that tourism sector can contribute more to the local budget and the general socio-economic growth.
