PM directs flood prevention and control in association with production recovery in Bac Giang
BAC GIANG - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 10 inspected and directed the flood prevention and relief effort after Typhoon Yagi in the northern province of Bac Giang. Over the past few days, the floods from upstream have caused water levels to rise on major rivers, leaving many places in Bac Giang flooded, isolated with severe damages.
The PM took a canoe to visit the people of Van Ha commune in Viet Yen township. This locality is along Cau river and has been severely impacted by rising waters that have left approximately 2,500 households with about 9,000 people isolated.

He met with local authorities and rescue forces, urging them to continue evacuation of residents to safe places and ensure the distribution of essential supplies.
He also urged them to take proactive measures to ensure road safety, especially in areas prone to floods and landslides.

In response to the severe flooding along the Cau River, PM Chinh called for immediate action from Bac Giang's authorities, including mobilising all available resources for evacuation efforts.
He emphasized that student safety is paramount and requested schools be reopened only in safe places. He also called for uninterrupted electricity and telecommunications to facilitate the emergency response and the ongoing needs of residents.

Immediately after inspecting, visiting and encouraging people in the flooded areas of Van Ha commune, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh worked with leaders of Bac Giang province and Viet Yen township.
After listening to the report of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Anh Duong on flood and storm prevention work in Bac Giang, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the Party Committee, government, army and people of Bac Giang province in recent days for actively and proactively responding to storm No. 3 and achieving good results to minimize damage.

The Prime Minister gave specific instructions on ensuring people's livelihood during storms and floods, maintaining security and safety in special situations.
He emphasized that Bac Giang has many enterprises investing in the area. The central leader requested the finance and banking sector to review and consider the specific situation to advise on implementing policies on debt forgiveness, deferment, reduction, and exemption of taxes, fees and insurance to support businesses and people to overcome difficulties so as not to disrupt the production and business chain.
The province should enhance propaganda, mobilize people to quickly stabilize, restore production after the flood; support each other in the spirit of mutual love, mutual assistance.

The Prime Minister urged Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces to coordinate in building a bridge connecting Van Ha commune and Bac Ninh province within 2025. Also, the province was requested to plan and bring households of Nguyet Duc village to live on shore, which must be completed in 2025.
As the Cau, Thuong and Luc Nam Rivers are expected to continue flooding above warning Level 3, over 4,600 military personnel and numerous vehicles have been deployed for disaster relief efforts.
The storm has caused approximately 300 billion VND (12 million USD) in damages and claimed one life in the province to date.
