Practically caring for labour
Adequate treatment
The working atmosphere was hustle and bustle on year end occasion in Korean garment enterprises Intermax Vietnam Company Limited in Ngoc Van commune (Tan Yen district). At the first day in 2015, the company only employed 400 workers but now it increased up to nearly 1,000 people with stable job and income of 8 – 10 million VND per person per month. Apart from higher minimum regional wage, each labour was offered many policies.

For three consecutive years (2019, 2020, 2021), Nichirin Vietnam Company Limited in Quang Chau industrial park has been honored by the provincial Confederation of Labour as “Business for the labour”. It was not only the acknowledgement for due effort to care for workers’ life but also affirmed proper operation motto that the labour is considered precious source to significantly help business stabilize and develop.
Because the workers must stand to work on the production line, the company allow them to take short break of 10 minutes after every two hours (day shift) and short break of 20 minutes at night shift. During this period, the labour can take a rest at specific resting place with table, chair, book and newspaper for their relaxation.
Moreover, 80 percent of the labour are women so the business paid special attention to improve the working condition and welfare policy.
Joining hands to conquer difficulties
Since 2020, Covid-19 had made great impact on production and business activities. Even, many companies must reduce labours and arrange alternative work. But in most of firms with good welfare policy for labour, the workers are willing to contribute and share the difficulties with the employer.
Typically in Yamashita Vietnam Company Limited in Noi Hoang industrial cluster, in the middle of May 2021, the company must suspend production to prevent and control Covid-19 pandemic. And the real difficulties came when the production restarted under “three-on-the-spot” model.
Harmonious, stable and advanced labour relation is the longest and most basic solution to ensure the life of the workers, reduce loss due to labour conflict, restrict collective work stoppages. It is also a measure to evaluate a company with social responsibility, prestige and trademark to the customer toward stable production and development. |
Vice General Director Nguyen Ngoc Minh said it was really hard to call on labour to come back work to clear the orders at that moment. But when the human resource department contacted to labour, nearly 200 people (60 percent of the stable labour) took their personal things to live and work at the company in only one morning.
The company leader was truly moved for the labour’s attachment and emotion. Though the business requested them to work overtime (2.5 to 3 hours per day and night shift on Sunday) (nearly doubling the time), the labour worked wholeheartedly and helped company keep long-tem partners then firmly stand amid numerous difficulties.
Besides the monthly salary and allowances of average 9 million VND per person, each labour worked under three-on-the-spot period was offered bonus of 500,000 VND per week. The company decided to support 1.5 million VND for each worker who live in far distance and was quarantined at the boarding house. Though the company only fulfilled 90 percent of the production and business plan in 2022, the leader still maintained same Tet bonus as last year.
According to Chairman of the provincial Confederation of Labour (PCL) Nguyen Van Canh, harmonious and stable labour relation truly needs great effort from the business. To honor the business for the labour and remind the employer to pay further attention and improve the workers’ life, since 2018, the PCL has launched voting campaign to honor 281 turns of outstanding business for the labour.

To achieve this, the business must give best care of labours and consider them precious asset,” Nguyen Van Canh pressed.
