Programme features traditional culture and customs of ethnic groups

A programme themed ‘Colours of spring from every corner of the country will take place throughout this February at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Dong Mo, Son Tay town, Hanoi.

The programme featuring traditional culture, customs, and Lunar New Year celebrations of ethnic groups nationwide is among a series of events hosted by the village this month to celebrate the 90th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1930-2020).

The highlights of the programme include the restaging of ‘khay ha luong’, a traditional ritual to pray for good luck for the New Year of Thai people in Son La province, as well as an arts exchange honouring the spring time of Mong ethnic people.

In addition, there are performances introducing traditional musical instruments of ethnic groups living in the Central Highlands region, including gongs and bamboo-made xylophones of Central Highlanders such as dinh gong, ding put, and t’rung.

Visitors to the programme are also invited to taste delicious local dishes and take part in exciting folk games and cultural activities, such as ‘Xoe’ dance, bamboo pole dance, and ‘pao’ (cloth ball) throwing.

Gau Tao festival is the most important festival for Mong ethnic people. It is held annually in early spring to express gratitude towards gods and to pray for a prosperous and lucky year.
Tet of the San Diu ethnic minority group
The San Diu ethnic minority group, who live in northern mountainous areas with a population of nearly 147,000, celebrate quite a lot of festivals the most important of which is Tet, the lunar New Year festival.
Ethnic groups celebrate New Year with various activities
Numerous cultural and arts activities are taking place at the Vietnam National Villages For Ethnic Culture And Tourism in Hanoi from January 1-31, helping visitors more understand traditional cultural features and celebrations of the new year of ethnic groups.
Mong ethnic people celebrate New Year
The annual traditional holiday of the Mong ethnic minority group, known as Nao Pe Chau, takes place at the end of the 11th lunar month. The event is held to celebrate the end of the harvest and spend time relaxing together.
San Diu ethnic man gets rich in barren land
(BGO) – With the youth pioneer spirit, the young San Diu ethnic man Diep Van Doan (born in 1995) in Xe Moi village, Thanh Hai commune, Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province) has boldly enriched in his homeland as a bright example for the youngsters.
