Promoting links in building tours and travel routes
New features of Bac Giang tourism
“We do not think that Bac Giang has so many new tourist attractions like that. Travelling is also convenient and easy. Next month, we will go to several more places in the province,” said Nguyen Thi Ha, a representative of a group of tourists from Hanoi.

A few days ago, her 30-strong team organised a tour to Bac Giang. The first day, they departed from Hanoi to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (Yen Dung district) and then went to Suoi Mo (Mo Stream) and Tay Yen Tu Spiritual and Ecological Tourism Area. The next day, they visited Xuong Giang Victory Relic Site and Bo Da Pagoda before returning to Hanoi.
Implementing the guiding documents of the Party Central Committee and the province on tourism development, in recent years, the local Party Committee, authorities, competent agencies and enterprises have concretized them with projects, programmes and plans, including the formation of tours and travel routes.
The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will invite units under the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism such as the Travel Department, the Tourism Market Department and the Hotel Department to participate in a survey and seminar on tourism development linkage. It will step up promotion activities as well as enhance exchange and cooperation with provinces that it has signed agreements and memoranda of understanding on tourism development with Tran Van Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. |
Based on the existing potential, the province determined that spiritual tourism, ecotourism and leisure tourism are its typical products. In recent two years, the province has initially formed clear tours and travel routes known and selected by many tourists, including a route from Bac Giang city to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (Yen Dung district), Suoi Mo (Luc Nam district), Tay Yen Tu Spiritual and Ecological Tourism Area (Son Dong district).
Or from Bac Giang city, tourists can visit Xuong Giang Victory Relic Site to Truc Lam Phuong Hoang Zen Monastery, Kem Pagoda and the golf course (Yen Dung district), to Bo Da Pagoda (Viet Yen district) or from Bac Giang city to the relic site of thousand-year-old Da Huong (Erythropalum scandens Blume) tree, Chi Miu Temple (Lang Giang district), Hoang Hoa Tham historical relic area and Ven village community tourism site (Yen The district)...
Giap Van Cuong, Deputy Director of the Bac Giang Center for Tourism Information and Promotion, said that his agency has developed 19 typical tours in the province with one-day and two-day, one-night schedules to introduce to visitors.
At each destination, there is coordination in transporting tourists and assigning tour guides. In addition to sightseeing, joining entertainment activities and visiting pagodas, tourists can enjoy unique dishes in each locality and region through the prestigious hotel and restaurant system suggested by the center.
Along with tours and travel routes in the province, now Bac Giang is conveniently connected to some tourist destinations such as Mau Son (Lang Son province), Nui Coc lake (Thai Nguyen province), Ha Long (Quang Ninh province) and Con Son-Kiep Bac (Hai Duong province)...
The tourism associations and some travel companies of provinces and cities have signed memoranda of understanding on business cooperation. Many companies have surveyed tours, travel routes and tourist sites in order to build specific products and promote links in developing services.

Especially, last October, the Standing Boards of the Party Committees of Hai Duong and Bac Giang provinces signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and development for the 2020-2025 period, including tourism.
Accordingly, the two provinces will continue to cooperate in building products and a system of common tourist routes and sites based on the strengths of their typical tourism products. They will focus on tourism connection between Bac Giang’s Tay Yen Tu spiritual and ecological tourism complex and Vinh Nghiem pagoda, and Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site and Thanh Mai pagoda (Hai Duong).
Many synchronous solutions
In order to contribute to increasing the number of tourists to Bac Giang, travel businesses have invested in vehicles and cooperated with partners. The province currently has 56 businesses providing travel services, of which 13 have been licensed to conduct travel business activities and organize transportation of holidaymakers to tourist sites and destinations in the province. There are more than 420 accommodation service providers, including two 4-star hotels, one 3-star hotel, five 2-star hotels and 17 1-star hotels.

A survey of the Yen The Transport Cooperative showed that the launch of a bus route from Bac Giang city toTay Yen Tu in March 2019 has created favorable conditions for visitors. Currently, the cooperative has eight 29-seat buses carrying tourists from Bac Giang city to tourist sites and destinations such as Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (Yen Dung), Suoi Mo (Luc Nam) and Tay Yen Tu Spiritual and Ecological Tourism Area (Son Dong), with a frequency of 30 minutes per trip. Each month, the unit transports about 20,000 passengers on the route.
On festivals, it has to increase trips to serve tourists. “In 2020, we will replace all the existing buses with high quality ones (50 seats each), and on the occasion of the Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival, we plan to supplement 5-10 vehicles to meet the travel needs of vacationists,” said Nguyen Xuan Mai, Director of the Yen The Transport Cooperative.
Thanks to the active introduction and promotion as well as formation and linking of tours and travel routes, in the past three years, the number of tourists to Bac Giang has increased continuously, estimated to reach 2 million in 2019, up 38 percent against last year.
Revenue from accommodation and travel activities and other services at tourist sites and destinations is projected at about 760 billion VND (32.7 million USD). Notably, there is an increasing trend that agencies, families, associations and groups of friends organise trips to tourist sites, leading to the development of catering and accommodation services.
