Provincial leaders hold meeting with veterans of De Tham Regiment fighting in Quang Ngai battlefield
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the vetarans of the De Tham Regiment, Colonel Nghiem Xuan Nham said that on April 9, 1965, in Thang township (Hiep Hoa district), the Infantry Regiment 21 (also called De Tham Regiment) was established, consisting of three battalions gathering people Ha Bac (now Bac Giang and Bac Ninh) and Hai Hung (now Hai Duong and Hung Yen) to fight in the South.

During the resistance war against the US, the regiment engaged in many big battles in the battlefields of Military Region 5, especially in Quang Ngai province.
In gratitude for the merits and sacrifices of the soldiers of the De Tham Regiment, Dang Van Minh, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province highlighted the feats of the De Tham Regiment in the Quang Ngai battlefield. Besides the fierce battles, the regiment also helped the local people repair their houses, stabilize their lives, and fight the enemy. It left a very good image in the hearts of the local people.
Nguyen Hoa Binh, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, and former Secretary of the Quang Ngai provincial Party Committee, hailed Bac Giang and Quang Ngai provinces for holding this meaningful meeting to review the heroic tradition of the Vietnamese army and people in the resistance war against the US for national salvation; express gratitude for the contributions and sacrifices of generations in the resistance war; and promote education of traditions for the younger generation.
Binh said in the coming time, the two provinces should continue to pay more attention to the veterans and the relatives of the martyrs of the De Tham Regiment to improve their lives. He expressed his hope that the veterans will continue to promote the traditions and educate their children and grandchildren to bring the spirit of the regiment to the construction and development of the homeland and the country.

Speaking at the meeting, Duong Van Thai, Secretary of the Party Committee and head of the National Assembly deputy delegation of Bac Giang province, appreciated the great feats, sacrifices and contributions of the officers and soldiers of the De Tham Regiment in the past.
He suggested the Party committees and authorities at all levels in the provincial Party Organisation and the provincial War Veterans Association continue to well implement the policy of paying gratitude to soldiers’ relatives, demonstrating the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source". It is necessary to take care of the material and spiritual life of the veterans in general and those of the De Tham Regiment in particular; promptly launch and organize practical activities to help those in difficult circumstances.
Before holding the meeting, the delegates laid wreaths and offered incense at the provincial Monument to Heroes and Martyrs.
