Secretary of the Party Central Committee Le Minh Tri inspects flood prevention and control in Bac Giang
BAC GIANG - Le Minh Tri, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court and the Central working delegation on September 12 inspected flood prevention and addressing typhoon Yagi’s aftermath in northern province of Bac Giang.
The delegation was received by Nguyen Van Gau, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Le Thi Thu Hong, permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council and Le Anh Duong, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee (PPC).

In his report at the meeting, PPC Chairman Le Anh Duong said, the provincial Standing Party Committee issued an announcement on implementing continuous measures to fight and address the aftermath of typhoon Yagi in the province and made plans to timely respond to the post-storm complicated weather developments.
The province has evacuated over 2,600 households with 10,500 flood victims in the districts of Son Dong, Luc Ngan and Luc Nam. For the residential areas living along the river banks of the Cau, the Thuong and the Luc Nam (the rivers with dykes), about 10,400 households with total 41,500 residents have been evacuated to safe places when the floodwater rose.
The province has sent delegations to visit and ask after those getting accidents and injured by the floods.
In order to overcome typhoon Yagi aftermath, the province requested the Government, central ministries and agencies to continue supporting Bac Giang province to have timely fund resources to repair the destroyed infrastructure.
After the site inspection, Le Minh Tri highly evaluated the all-level party committee and government, soldiers and people of Bac Giang province for their great efforts in response to typhoon Yagi to minimize damages.
He urged the levels, departments, agencies, units and localities in the province to continue concentrating on implementing the directions by the Politburo, Prime Minister, central ministries and agencies and other documents on flood prevention and addressing the storm aftermath.
For the long term, the province should work out plans to regulate water levels in regional lake system to ensure both flood prevention and exploitation for agricultural production.

He requested the provincial People’s Committee to make detailed report to the Government to have plan for supporting agricultural production. The province should also implement synchronous measures and solutions to stabilize people’s living.
After grasping the opinions of Le Minh Tri, the PPC Secretary Nguyen Van Gau added the province had taken initiative in preventing and responding to the storm before it occurred.
In line with issuing directive documents, the province established 10 task forces from the provincial steering committee for natural disaster prevention, search and rescue and assigned members of the provincial Standing Party Committee to take in charge of specific localities for timely direction and remedying the storm aftermath. During implementation, the people’s health and safety is the first and foremost priority.
On this occasion, Le Minh Tri presented 200 million VND (8,098 USD) from the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s fund resources to support the province to overcome the natural disaster.
