Silk cotton tree in Lang Son commune honored as a Vietnamese heritage tree
BAC GIANG - The Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment has just organized a ceremony to award the Recognition of Vietnam Heritage Tree to the silk cotton tree in Ba Co (spinster) temple located in Tan My village, Lang Son commune, Bac Giang city (Bac Giang province).
According to the records, the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment confirmed that the silk cotton tree is 27.5m high, with a canopy area of nearly 300 square meters, a trunk diameter of 2.4m and over 200 years old.

The tree is upright, green with lush branches and leaves. The tree growing on the dike has two large, strong trunks: The first trunk has a circumference of about 3.1 m, the second trunk has a circumference of 3.4 m.
Every year in lunar March, the tree blooms with many bright red flowers, attracting many people, especially young people, to visit and take photos.

Previously, in 2021, the silk cotton tree in Lang Son commune was recognized by the Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association as an "Ancient tree with historical and cultural value".
