Singer Chi Pu opens Vietnamese restaurant in one of world's most expensive cities

Updated: 18:57, 20/02/2025

Singer Chi Pu has opened a new restaurant specializing in traditional Vietnamese dishes in China's Shanghai, one of the world's most expensive cities.

Located in Hong Kong Plaza in the Xintiandi area, considered the "heart" of Shanghai, the new restaurant is surrounded by historic neighborhoods, dining establishments, and a high concentration of international tourists.

La Ganh 2.0, a restaurant invested in by Chi Pu, officially opened in Shanghai on Feb. 18. In 2023 she also opened a restaurant serving pho noodle soup in Shanghai.

According to EuroCost International's annual cost of living ranking last year, Shanghai, famous for its modern skyscrapers, ranked 23rd in a list of 30 most expensive cities in the world.

Since noon, many fans and customers have lined up, eagerly waiting for their turn to dine at the restaurant. Chi Pu arrived early to welcome guests and stayed until the evening to interact with fans.

By dinnertime, the restaurant was at full capacity.

The restaurant features a Vietnamese menu fused with Izakaya-style dining—a Japanese concept that blends a pub atmosphere with a restaurant. Its modern interior design enhances the dining experience.

Conveniently located with a separate entrance opposite the Andaz Hotel and next to M-Stand, the restaurant offers easy access for visitors.

On Xiaohongshu, China's most popular lifestyle social media platform, many food bloggers who already visited La Ganh 2.0 share their experiences, captioning their posts as the "Vietnamese restaurant of Vietnamese goddess Chi Pu."

The opening day's menu features more than 10 dishes.

Most reviews praise the restaurant’s flavors, noting that it introduces Chinese customers to Vietnamese cuisine while adapting dishes to suit local tastes.

The opening day's menu features more than 10 dishes, ranging from hotpots to fried and stir-fried specialties. Moving beyond its previous focus on pho, the restaurant plans to expand its offerings to more than 50 Vietnamese dishes.

In addition to its creative variations, the restaurant offers many authentic Vietnamese dishes, such as vegetables with savory sauce. The vegetable platter includes steamed or boiled okra, carrot, cauliflower, radish, and bitter melon.
