Social housing credit program helps people settle down
The social housing loan program per Decree 100 has been implemented through the Provincial SPB since 2018. This is a policy proving the Party and Government's deep concern for officials and people with low income.

From preferential loans, many families can buy, build and repair houses to settle down and make a living. Typically, Tran Thi Thao and her husband in Tran Phu ward (Bac Giang city) have low income. They cannot buy a house to live on their own.
At the end of November last year, the couple was offered a loan of nearly 430 million VND (over 18,000 USD) by the Provincial SPB with an interest rate of 4.8 percent per year according to Decree 100.
Together with the accumulated capital, her family was able to buy an apartment of more than 50 square meters at the social housing project in residential area 3 in Tran Nguyen Han ward (Bac Giang city).
Similarly, Nguyen Van Tuc's family in Hoa Yen residential group in Tho Xuong ward (Bac Giang city) was also loaned nearly 590 million VND by the Provincial SPB with preferential interest rates to buy an apartment of nearly 70 square meters at the social housing project in residential area number 3.
According to the Provincial SPB, after 5 years implementing Decree 100, the SPB has disbursed nearly 580 billion VND to 1,519 cases of preferential loans to buy social housing, build new houses, renovate and repair houses. Most of them came from Bac Giang city, Lang Giang district and Viet Yen.
The whole province has 11 social housing projects for workers covering an area of about 58 hectares with total floor area of more than 1.2 million square meters or more than 27,700 apartments. It helps provide accommodation for about 90,000 people.
Currently, some of the above projects have been completed and opened for sale. In addition, Bac Giang has a social housing project for low-income people that has opened for sale.

During completing applications for approval to buy a house or borrow money from a bank, customers still encounter difficulties. The Department of Construction submitted proposal to the Ministry of Construction for specific guidance in approving subjects allowed to buy, rent or lease-purchase social housing regarding the criteria of not having a house or residential land to create favorable conditions for home buyers so as to ensure the compliance with regulations.
Nguyen Van Canh, Deputy Director of the Provincial SPB, said: "In order to facilitate people to conveniently access to preferential loans to buy houses, the Bank proactively contacts customers in need to disseminate related regulations and coordinates with project investors to promptly guide borrowers to complete loan procedures and documents as regulations."
