Standing Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee Mai Son extends New Year greetings to Lao Embassy staff

(BGO) - On the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay Festival of Laos, on the afternoon of April 7, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Mai Son visited and extended New Year wishes to the Lao Embassy in Vietnam. Colonel Vongxay Inthakham, Lao Defense Attaché in Vietnam, received the delegation.

The Bunpimay Festival of Laos takes place in three days (April 14, 15 and 16). On behalf of the leaders of Bac Giang province, Son sent New Year greetings to all officials and staff of the Lao Embassy in Vietnam, and congratulated the great successes of the Lao Party, State and people over the years.

He expressed his pleasure with and pride of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, States and people of Vietnam and Laos, considering this an invaluable asset for today and future generations.

Son added that implementing the Party and State's policy on developing the Vietnam-Laos relationship and the strategy on economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technical cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Bac Giang province has regularly maintained people-to-people friendship activities with Laos' localities, organizations and people.

In particular, Bac Giang province and Xaysomboun province have signed a cooperation agreement for the 2021-2025 period. Under the agreement, Bac Giang province will help the Lao province train civil servants, medical staff and badminton players; develop cultivation and animal husbandry models; and build five schools at total cost of more than 25.2 billion VND (1.1 million USD).

On this occasion, the provincial official suggested the Lao Embassy pay attention to supporting Bac Giang enterprises to increase investment and promote key products of the province in Laos as well as backing the development of cooperation between Bac Giang and Xaysomboun.

On the upcoming occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos, (September 5, 1962-2022), the People's Committee of Bac Giang province plans to organize a quiz titled "Learning about the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Laos and the collaboration between Bac Giang and Xaysomboun”. Son invited officials and staff of the Lao Embassy to visit Bac Giang province and attend the contest award ceremony.

For his part, Colonel Vongxay Inthakham thanked the leaders of Bac Giang province for coming to congratulate the Lao Embassy on the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay Festival. 

He noted that Bac Giang’s meaningful activities toward Xaysomboun province will be a very important source of encouragement for the embassy's staff to have more motivation to complete their tasks, contributing to strengthening and developing the Vietnam-Laos fraternity and friendship.
