From October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022, according to regulations, businesses do not have to pay unemployment insurance premiums for their employees. Pham Van Toan, Director of Casablanca Joint Stock Company (Lang Giang district), said: “The company has more than 700 workers specializing in producing bags containing export goods. The policy is a significant support to help us restore production and prevent supply chain disruptions".
In the early days of implementing the support package, employees and employers highly appreciated the practicality, sharing and timeliness of the unemployment insurance fund for employees severely affected by the pandemic.
The province has more than 200,000 workers receiving support with six levels ranging from 1.8-3.3 million VND (79-145 USD) from the unemployment insurance fund. At the same time, 3,514 units do not have to pay the unemployment insurance premiums for employees in 12 months (from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022).
By October 11, the provincial Social Insurance Agency provided support to 1,663 employees with an amount of more than 3.9 billion VND (171,477 USD) and did not collect unemployment insurance premiums from all beneficiary units with a total amount of more than 165 billion VND (7.25 million USD).
To create conditions for beneficiary employees, businesses and units, the agency will receive applications directly at the office, by post, or online. For the online form, employees, businesses and units can submit their applications on the national public service portal, the public service portal of the Vietnam Social Security or via the VssID application.
For employees joining unemployment insurance on September 30, 2021, the agency will send a list to the enterprises for the employees to compare and provide personal account information to receive the fastest payment. Through the management software, the agency will accurately review the beneficiaries and the benefiting period, preventing the abuse of the policy.

Than Duc Lai, Director of the rovincial Social Insurance Agency, said: "Currently, most of the employees are facing a lot of difficulties and expect to receive support from the unemployment insurance fund early, so the agency has quickly completed the procedures for them to get support as soon as possible. It will mainly pay by bank transfer, limiting cash payments to proactively prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic."
In order to support beneficiaries, the social insurance agencies of districts are stepping up coordination with employers to guide employees to make applications according to the form. In addition, enterprises need to pay attention to reviewing and sending the list of employees to the social insurance agency for comparison, confirmation, and payment to the right beneficiaries with a right support level. Employees should install the VssID application to facilitate transactions and capture information related to social insurance policies.
This policy has contributed to supporting workers to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives as ell as assisting employers to reduce costs, make efforts to adapt to the new normal, restore and maintain production and business, and create jobs for workers.
