Vice President receives delegates attending literature conference, poetry festival

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh hosted a reception on February 18 for a delegation attending the 4th international conference on promoting Vietnamese literature and the 3rd international poetry festival.

Praising the Vietnamese Writers’ Association for organizing the events, the Vice President stated that the conference aims to introduce the unique values of Vietnamese literature to the world while providing Vietnamese writers with wider access to world literature.

She affirmed that, during the wars for independence, poems were composed and recited with patriotism and aspiration for peace and today they continue to undertake the mission of building the cultural foundation of the Vietnamese people.

Vice President Thinh said that, during its recent history, Vietnam has always received valuable support from the peace-loving peoples in the world, especially poets and writers, expecting them to continue coming to Vietnam, a land of stability, peace, poetry and friendship.

Poet Huu Thinh, Chairman of the Vietnamese Writers’ Association, informed that the international conference on Vietnamese literature and the international poetry festival drew the participation of nearly 200 delegates from 46 countries and territories worldwide.

They are poets, writers and literature translators with a special love for Vietnam and who have supported Vietnam’s struggles for independence in the past and its current national construction cause.
