Viet Yen becomes township two years ahead of schedule
From purely agricultural district to the one leading industrial development
Previously, in Viet Yen as well as many other areas in the province, people's income mainly relied on agricultural production. In 2003, after many efforts of the province and the locality, construction started on the Dinh Tram Industrial Park - the province's first industrial park, opening up new development opportunities for the district as well as Bac Giang province.

Viet Yen now has four basic industrial parks filled, attracting hundreds of secondary investors. In 2023, the district led 10 localities in the province in production value with a growth rate of 19.94%.
Its total production value accounted for more than 68% of the province’s figure, with industrial production alone making up more than 78%. The district’s average growth rate in the 2020-2023 period reached 25.56%, exceeding the target set by its district Party congress.
Industrial development has made people's lives change rapidly. From active farmers, they have now become millionaires and billionaires thanks to the motel business and many other services, making residential areas around the industrial parks increasingly bustling. At night, the residential areas are bright and vibrant. Well-decorated shops are busy with trading activities.
To continue the development momentum, in recent years, the district has spent significant resources on socio-economic infrastructure, focusing on transport infrastructure to ensure connections with development areas in the district and regional links; and urban and residential areas.

A series of projects have been put into use, giving a facelift to urban areas while the people's material and spiritual lives have been improved. Along with economic development, Viet Yen has always paid attention to preserving traditional culture.
Completing many targets and tasks for the tenure
In 2023, the Viet Yen district Party Committee continued to closely follow the leadership and direction of the provincial Party Committee and local practices, correctly identifying the year's work theme as "Solidarity, joint efforts, and consensus and determination to turn Viet Yen into a township".
On December 13, 2023, the National Assembly Standing Committee held its 28th session and unanimously agreed to issue a resolution on establishing Viet Yen township and its wards, meeting the aspirations of the local people and officials.
Viet Yen district has ancient quan ho (love duet singing) villages, artisans and singing clubs that have been actively preserving and promoting the intangible cultural heritage of humanity. |
The achievement was obtained two years ahead of the targets set in the Resolution of the 23rd Congress of the district Party Organisation for the 2020-2025 tenure, Resolution No. 162-NQ/TU of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, and Resolution No. 233-NQ /TU of the provincial Party Committee.
In addition, many goals and tasks in the spirit of Resolution 162-NQ/TU of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and the Resolution of the 23rd Congress of the district Party Organisation set out for 2025 were also completed or surpassed. Many were in the top group of the province.
According to Nguyen Van Dung, Secretary of the district Party Committee, the establishment of Viet Yen township in 2023, earlier than the set goal, reflected the efforts and dedication for many terms of many generations of leaders, cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees and people from all walks of life.
It was the result of many factors, both internally and externally, with the most important being the support and assistance of the central and provincial governments.
