The programme provided Australian students with the chance to raise their awareness of cultural interference as well as gain important experiences in the current context of globally connected human resources.

Vietnam is fourth among 36 countries in the Asia-Pacific attracting the most students under the New Colombo Programme.

Since the programme was offically launched in 2015, the total number of students to have been granted the programme’s scholarships to study in Vietnam will have reached 3,609 by 2020.

They will study and research different areas, including healthcare, information and technology, community development, agriculture, environmental management, innovation, start-up and language teaching.

Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Robyn Mudie emphasised that the students joining the New Colombo Programme would play an increasingly important role in tightening the relations between Australia and Vietnam.

With the direct experience gained in Vietnam, as well as in their personal and work relationships, they will establish a diverse network with high influence, significantly contributing to the prosperity of the two nations, he added.
