The EVN has continuously announced Vietnam's new power consumption records over the past three consecutive days, which broke the previous all-time peak usage record, hitting 725 million kWh on July 4.
In northern Vietnam, the total loads peaked at 17,149 megawatts and the total power consumption hit a record of 363.8 million kWh.
"Both figures reported in northern Vietnam on July 4 are the highest ever recorded in history," EVN said.
Particularly, in Hanoi, the total loads and power usage established new records at 4,149 megawatts and 85 million kWh respectively on July 4.
According to the hydro-meteorological forecasting agency, the burning heat wave in northern and central Vietnam will last until the night of July 6, therefore, power consumption is forecast to remain high and is likely to set new records.
The agency also stated that the fierce heat in the Northern provinces will end as of July 7 as heavy rains are forecast to hit the region from the evening of July 6.
The weather next week will be pleasant for the northern and central provinces including Hanoi with temperatures hovering around 30-33C for the entire week.
