Vietnam Poetry Day opens in Bac Giang

(BGO) - Today, 19 February 2019 (the Vietnamese Lantern Festival) at the relic site of Xuong Giang Victory in the northern province of Bac Giang, the Vietnam Writers Association and the provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province jointly held the 17th Vietnam Poetry Day 2019.

The opening ceremony was attended by poet Huu Thinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association and leaders of Bac Giang province including Le Thi Thu Hong, permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Head of the National Assembly deputies delegation in Bac Giang province, Do Duc Ha, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and head of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Popularization and Education, Tu Minh Hai, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council and Le Anh Duong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

A drum performance starts the opening ceremony.

Especially, the event lured participation of nearly 200 international writers, poets and translators from 46 countries worldwide. Besides, it was attended by Vietnamese writers and poets, teachers and students from some schools in the province, mass of local people and poetry lovers.

Addressing at the Poetry Day, Le Anh Duong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee stressed, Bac Giang was honored to join hands with Vietnam Writers Association to organize the 17th Vietnam Poetry Day for the first time on the occasion of Vietnamese Lantern Festival in the New Year of Pig, 2019 and welcome famous writers, poets and artists from Vietnam and other countries. “Your presence is like a warm wind of the spring bringing love, friendship and good luck for Bac Giang province”, said Vice Chairman.

Le Anh Duong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee delivers the opening speech.

On behalf of the leaders and people of Bac Giang province, Le Anh Duong expressed his sincere thanks to Vietnam Writers Association, domestic and international writers and poets and the distinguished guests for their special attention and collaboration to organize this event.

The Poetry Day in Bac Giang is within the frameworks of the events organized by the Vietnam Writers Association nationwide from 15 to 21 February including the 4th International Conference on Vietnamese literature promotion, 3rd International Poem Festival and Vietnam Poetry Day.

The 17th Vietnam Poetry Day 2019 draws numerous national and international writers, poets and translators.

Besides, it is included in the events of the Culture and Tourism Week themed “Discovering the holy land of Tay Yen Tu” organized by Bac Giang province.

This important event of Vietnam Writers Association organized in Bac Giang province is aimed to honor literature. As a part of the Culture and Tourism Week themed “Discovering the sacred land of Tay Yen Tu”, this event also lured the attention of local people, domestic and international tourists to culture, land and people of Bac Giang.

The provincial and municipal leaders visit the exhibition booth of Bac Giang Newspaper at the event.

This event was attended by the provincial leaders, leaders of Vietnam Writers Association, hundreds of famous writers, poets, researchers and literary critics from many countries, poem clubs from different provinces, teachers and students from many schools in the province. At this event, the authors and artists performed a number of outstanding poets, especially, the performances of the intangible heritage of Bac Giang such as Quan Ho singing and Cheo singing.

The opening ceremony of the 17th Vietnam Poetry Day 2019 was live on the provincial Radio and Television from 9.30.
