Vietnam ranks 5th among international students in US

Vietnam is the US’s fifth largest source of foreign students, with 21,900 during the 2022-2023 academic year, according to the US Embassy in Vietnam, citing the Open Doors 2023 report.
The number of Vietnamese students studying in the US rose by 5.7% and accounted for 2.1% of total international students in the US, behind China, India, the Republic of Korea and Canada.

Vietnam continued to rank second in international students enrolled at US community colleges, with 7.6% of international students at these institutions.
Vietnam also ranked fourth globally with 14,295 students following college and BA programmes.
The primary fields of study selected by Vietnamese students are STEM and business/management, with the respective proportions of 47.6% and 24.7%.
