The vaccine is expected to help Vietnam to better prevent diseases in animals. |
According to MARD Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong, foot and mouth disease is the most serious disease in pigs and other livestock because it is very dangerous, highly contagious and could cause huge economic losses.
Therefore, Vietnam’s success in producing the vaccine for the first time is extremely significant to the country’s animal husbandry industry.
He urged the Department of Animal Health to work with the vaccine-producing company to deploy the vaccine effectively and continue research in order to improve the quality and reduce the price of the vaccine.
The minister also called for the formulation of a vaccine development plan for a number of key regions so that Vietnamese animal products are able to gain sustainable export markets.
The success of producing the foot and mouth disease vaccine is expected to help Vietnam to better prevent diseases in animals, increase the ratio of vaccinated livestock, and save millions of US dollars for farmers and the state budget.
