Updated: 14:31, 18/09/2024

The Vietnamese team earned a bronze medal and three certificates of excellence at the 47th WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France. This marks the fifth time Vietnam has won a medal at the WorldSkills Competition.

With a total score of 729, Pham Thanh Dat, a student at the Hanoi University of Industry, won a bronze medal in CNC milling.

Vietnam wins bronze at 47th WorldSkills competition.

This is the third consecutive time the Vietnamese has won a medal at the World Skills Competition. In the last two editions (2019 and 2022), Vietnamese contestants won a silver medal in CNC milling, and in 2022, a silver medal in CNC turning.

The WorldSkills Competition, held from September 10-15, featured over 1,400 contestants under 25 from nearly 70 countries, competing in 62 skills. Vietnam participated with 12 contestants across nine skill categories.

Vietnam’s delegation met its goal for the competition, overcoming challenges related to resource constraints and modern technology access. This was the first time Vietnam’s participation was entirely funded through social and private contributions, without government funding.

The WorldSkills Competition, held biennially, serves as a platform for countries to advance vocational training standards to meet the evolving demands of the global labour market.
