Women’s National Cup to offer VND100 million for champions

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the sponsors and organised a draw to determine the schedule of fixtures for the inaugural Women’s National Cup 2019 during a ceremony held in Hanoi

The tournament, which will take place annually from this year, aims to create an additional professional playing ground and enhance the competition opportunities for female Vietnamese players.

The Vietnam Football Federation announced the sponsors and organised a draw to determine the schedule of fixtures for the inaugural Women’s National Cup 2019 during a ceremony held in Hanoi.

With the birth of the Women’s National Cup, the National Women’s Football Championship will return to the League format, contributing to strengthening the quality of matches and creating an abundant resource for the national teams.

The 2019 competition, scheduled for May 22-31, will bring together six teams, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City Youth, Son La (Group A), Phong Phu Ha Nam, Ho Chi Minh City II, and TNG Thai Nguyen (Group B).

The participants will play in a round robin format to decide the top two teams from each group who will qualify for the title match. The two second-placed teams will battle it out for the third prize.

The overall champions will receive the trophy and a cash prize of VND100 million (US$4,300), while the runners-up and the third-placed team will be awarded respective stakes of VND80 million (US$3,440) and VND50 million (US$2,150).

The organising committee will also present individual prizes worth VND10 million each to the top scorer, the best goalkeeper and the most valuable player of the tournament.

Women’s football team receive bonus of 34,500 USD
The Vietnamese women’s football team have received a bonus of 800 million VND (34,500 USD) from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for earning a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics’ third qualifying round.
