Remarkably, several big concentrated fields have been established in the district to cultivate winter crops with the total area of 500 hectares. The whole area has been cultivated with connected regions and the same plants for favourable production, caring, harvesting and consumption.
Seeing importance of winter crop in ensuring food supply on year-end occasion and creating jobs and income for rural labour, Yen Dung district has implemented a number of support policies to increase production efficiency and value.
According to Duong Van Phong, Head of the Economics Division of Yen Dung district, the district people’s committee has provided the support policies since this winter crop based on the Resolution No 26/2023/NQ-HDND dated 14 July 2023 of the provincial People’s Council on support policies for agro-forestry and fishery developemnt in the province in 2023-2030 period. Particularly, the district supports with 10 million VND (410.6 USD) per hectare for agricultural businesses, cooperatives, cooperative unions and cooperative groups in the district to establish concentrated commodity production areas.

The support policies benefit the vegetable production areas for processing like Atlantic potato, sweet corn and vegetable concentrated cultivation areas granted safe production certificate under VietGAP standards at the production scale of 5 hectares and more and other commodity vegetable production areas such as corn and commercial potato at the scale from 10 hectares following VietGAP, GlobalGAP and organic standards.
Based on the new policy, the district Economics Division has collaborated with the localities to timely communicate to the locals to approach the support policy and proactively register for participation in the linkage. As a result, 30 new concentrated production areas have been established in the district. The district will support farmers with nearly 2.7 billion VND (110,865 USD) in this winter crop.
The district does not support private households and individuals but it supports agricultural businesses, cooperatives, cooperative unions and cooperative groups which helps to connect farmers together and farmers to cooperatives and businesses thereby creating the linkage to facilitate direction and leadership of local government and application of mechanisation in agricultural production.
